Scholarships

The Junior League of Bronxville (JLB) is committed to improving educational opportunities for children in our community. One way we do this is by offering annual scholarship awards for higher education.

The JLB offers three different scholarship awards as outlined below. In doing so, we hope to extend our mission by encouraging and rewarding young women who are making a positive impact in our community.

Applications are now open for 2024. Please see below for the descriptions of each scholarship and the corresponding application.

Cara Kealy Scholarship Award

Cara Kealy was an exemplary and beloved member of the Junior League of Bronxville who sadly passed away after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer in 2013. In her passing, the JLB created the Cara Kealy Scholarship in her honor so that her impact would continue to benefit her community.

The JLB will award a one-time $1,500 scholarship to a young woman who is furthering her higher education and reflects Cara’s and the League’s commitment to volunteerism. Scholarship eligibility is specific to college-bound women who live in Bronxville, Eastchester, Mount Vernon, Tuckahoe, or Yonkers.

Erica Sevilla Service Award

Erica Sevilla was a President of the Junior League of Bronxville (JLB) who sadly passed away from breast cancer in October 2019. She was a passionate volunteer-leader in our community and lived our vision of “Mobilizing Women to Ignite and Inspire Community Change”.

Her family and friends, in her passing, donated to a Service Award in Erica’s honor so that her impact can live on and benefit those who Erica cared for so much. Each year the JLB will award two, $1,500 one-time scholarships to young women who are furthering their higher education and reflect the values of not only Erica and her family, but also those of the League.

Scholarship eligibility is specific to college-bound women who live in Bronxville, Eastchester, Mount Vernon, Tuckahoe, or Yonkers and who are active participants of either The Guidance Center of Westchester and/or Yonkers Partners In Education.
